Improve your revenue from your website the state of Israel, Jerusalem

Let’s face it. Most small business owners are not web designers, and they don’t want to be. That’s cool. However, implementing the right marketing strategies, combined with a great design, is key to making a great website. A website that converts traffic to leads and sales needs real attention by someone who knows your business and customers very well (someone like you)…on an ongoing basis. You can't completely abdicate website development without suffering the consequences in lost leads, customers and revenue.

The fact is, most small businesses don’t take the time and/or don’t have the webdesignpersonnel to properly guide the development of an integrated marketing plan. So, we get a website designer who typically knows nothing about marketing, especially in your business niche. They end up creating a website fairly autonomously because you figure they are the experts and have done this numerous times before. Even worse, other key elements of your online marketing like social media is built by low budget/no budget designers (or relatives) and SEO companies are managed like some black box strategy you just don’t want to know about.

Ok, enough of the rant, let’s just stick with building a killer website that converts traffic for now.

Building and optimizing a website involves three interdependent principles;

1. Good Design- It’s about creating a look and feel that represents your brand identity. Also, using color, minimal flash elements and standard design principles to attract the viewers eye to actions you want them to take. Visitors usually pattern their view of a website from the top left, to the middle right and then back to the bottom left. You want to place important content in that line so your website has a higher likelihood of engagement.

2. Marketing Hooks- What are we trying to do with our website? What do we want our viewers to do? In many cases, we want to build a list and generate new leads. So, what is the “link bait” that will attract viewers to your site? Also, how will we get them to “convert”? Meaning, why will they exchange their personal contact information with you so you can follow up? No contact info, no lead!

3. Site Structure- You need to plan site structure around keywords and phrases. What are the five to 10 keywords or phrases that your business is trying to rank for, and create specific pages for each of these keywords or phrases. Then use the keywords and phrases (as well as long tail versions) in the title, sub-headlines and body copy. Make sure you use the “link bait” that is right for each landing page based on the keywords you are using.

Building a website that generates traffic and leads is possible if you follow these principles. The key is you need someone who knows your business, and customers, very well to be involved in the process.

How is your website performing?

Web Marketing Tips
One of the primary reasons websites fail is not how the site looks, the content of the site, or its features. Wonderfully designed site with a great product fail every day. While these items do affect the success of the site the primary reason many sites fail comes down to Web Marketing, helping the right people actually find your site.
From this page I will be linking to pages discussing many of the key internet marketing methods these Web Marketing Companies (and you) use including:

* eMail Marketing (Very Effective)
* Pay Per Click (PPC)
* Text Link Ads
* Network Marketing (Similar to MLM)
* Viral Marketing
* Link Baiting
* Banner advertisement
* Online Social Network Marketing

To illustrate the need of Web Marketing lets consider a “Real World”, “Brick and Mortar Business”. It’s safe to assume that most of us have seen good businesses fail. While you can’t always rule out bad management, more likely the real reason of the failure was the inability of the owner to get customers in the door to look at the product. An old saying about the most important part of a business is “Location, Location, Location”. Sad but true, the quality of the product is not always what makes the business succeed.

But how does this relate to marketing your website? Internet Marketing follows many of the same rules as marketing any other business. It still comes down to “Location, Location, Location”, but instead of making sure you are on a busy street, you need to make sure your website is featured on a busy web page. “Busy Web Page”? No, not one that is cluttered and hard to read, one that not only has a lot of people visiting it, but has people visiting it that are interested in your product.
There are two main ways to get your website featured on these coveted great locations.

1. Buy the position
2. Create such compelling content that people volunteer to put you there.

You can buy the position in many ways some directly; Adwords and web page advertisements are two of them. Or indirectly; you can buy links that influence the search engines to put you on their high traffic pages (popular search engine result pages).

Regardless of the method you choose to market your website you have the unenviable task of trying to market your site better that the Web Marketing Companies marketing your competitors site. This can be difficult but not impossible.

Don’t despair, Web Marketing is a challenging field that takes a little time to learn but, the advantage is not having to give a Web Marketing Company a share in those hard earned profits!
